
The park was established in 1951 recognized by UNESCO as the world heritage sites 1979 covering the land area of 1100 square miles ( 2850 square km), it is the sixth largest park in Tanzania ,The landscape is composed of granitic ridges, river valley, and swamps. Vegetation is a mix of Acacia woodland, Combretum woodland, seasonally flooded grassland, and baobab trees.
The Tarangire National Park is known as a wonderful birding destination and also features large numbers of wildlife, particularly during the dry season, while the Tarangire River is the only source of water in the area, the park constitute largest number of elephant among Tanzanian National parks.The park is found in Northern part of Tanzania in the Manyara region.
What to expect while visiting Tarangire
This is the only park which is crowded with abundance of wildlife especially during dry season as River Tarangire does not dry up during this time, also it is the only park with the largest reserve of Elephants in Tanzania.
